Hokis Studios
Privacy policy
Keepwarden (“the game”) is a single-player tower defense game for iPhone, iPad and Android, published by Hokis Studios LLC (“Hokis Studios”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains what happens to your information when you play the game and when you visit this website.
The short version
- The game does not collect personal data. It has no accounts, no sign-in, no ads, no analytics, no tracking and no in-app purchases.
- The game plays entirely offline. It does not send anything to us or to anyone else. On Android it does not even ask for permission to use the internet.
- Your progress and settings are saved only on your device.
- If you email us, we use your email address only to reply.
1. What the game stores on your device
To remember your progress, the game saves a small amount of game data in your device’s standard app storage (on iPhone and iPad, the app’s preferences; on Android, the app’s private storage). This data stays on your device. We never receive it. It contains:
- Progress: the stars earned on each map and mode (Campaign, Heroic, Iron), your best Endless waves, gems, permanent boosts, unlocked heroes and their experience, hero weapons and their levels, your castle buildings and research (and when an upgrade or research finishes), and tower and hero skins.
- Chests and cards: the chests waiting to be opened, the cards and card dust you have collected, counters the game uses to guarantee a rarer card after a run of common ones, and which once-a-day and once-a-week chests you have already received. A random number created on your device makes chest draws differ from one device to the next; like everything else here, it never leaves your device.
- Achievements and statistics: counts such as enemies defeated and levels cleared, used for achievements.
- Daily features: the date of your last daily reward and your streak, and your Daily Challenge results for today and yesterday, your all-time best and the day its bonus was last paid.
- Settings: music and sound volume, the graphics preset, the auto-specials switch, and which tutorial and tips you have already seen.
- A saved run: when you leave a level in the middle, the game saves that run (the map, the wave, your towers, gold, lives and hero) so that Continue can resume it. It is replaced or cleared when you start another run.
None of this identifies you. The game also reads your device’s date and time to run the daily reward, the Daily Challenge and the research and building timers; that information is used on the device only.
2. How to delete it
On the main menu, open Settings › Reset Progress and tap it again to confirm. This erases all saved progress (stars, gems, heroes, gear, the castle, chests and cards, achievements and any saved run) and your settings, except your music and sound volume, which it keeps. Uninstalling the game erases everything.
3. Device backups
If you back up your device (for example with iCloud Backup on iPhone or iPad, or Android’s backup to your Google account), the backup may include the game’s saved data. Those backups are run by Apple or Google under their privacy policies; we cannot see or access them.
4. What the game does not do
- No account or sign-in, and no personal details are asked for.
- No advertising, no advertising identifier, and no tracking across apps or websites.
- No analytics, crash-reporting or marketing tools, from us or from anyone else.
- No access to your location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone.
- No chat, no friends lists and no content shared by other players.
- No purchases: gems, chests and everything else in the game are earned by playing and cannot be bought.
- We do not sell or share any information about you, because the game does not collect any.
5. App stores
You download the game from the Apple App Store or Google Play. Apple and Google process information about your download and your use of their stores under their own privacy policies. If you have chosen in your device settings to share analytics or diagnostics with app developers, Apple or Google may give us aggregated statistics (such as the number of installs) and anonymous crash reports. We use these only to understand how many people play and to fix problems. They do not identify you to us.
6. Test versions
If you test a pre-release version through Apple’s TestFlight, Apple shares with us the information described in TestFlight’s own privacy terms: the name and email address you were invited with, the feedback and screenshots you choose to send, and crash reports and basic usage information such as the number of sessions. We use it only to improve and fix the game. You can ask us at any time to remove you from testing.
7. This website
hokisstudios.com sets no cookies, uses no analytics or tracking, and loads nothing from other companies: no fonts, scripts, videos or social buttons. Like any website, our web host receives the technical information needed to deliver each page (such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested) and may keep it briefly in server logs for security. We do not use it to identify you.
8. If you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to answer you and to fix the problem you report. We keep the conversation only as long as needed for that, we do not add you to any mailing list, and we do not share it, except with Google, which hosts our email. You can ask us to delete it at any time.
9. Children
The game is made for players aged 13 and older and is not directed at children under 13. The game does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has emailed us, contact us and we will delete that correspondence.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU and UK, or the CCPA in California), you have rights to access, correct or delete personal information a company holds about you. Because the game collects no personal information, we hold none from the game. For any email you have sent us, or test information from TestFlight, contact us and we will answer your request.
11. Security
Your game data never leaves your device through the game, so there is nothing for us to store or protect on our side. Keeping your device itself secure (a passcode or screen lock, and up-to-date software) protects your saved game along with everything else on it.
12. Changes to this policy
If a future version of the game changes any of this, we will update this policy and the store privacy information before that version is released, and change the date at the top. The current version is always at this address.
Planned changes, not in the game yet
Optional gameplay statistics and crash reports. We plan to add statistics through Google Firebase (Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics) so we can see which levels are too hard and fix crashes. The game will ask every player first and send nothing unless you tap Allow, and you will be able to change your answer at any time in Settings. The statistics will not include your name, email address, contacts, precise location or any advertising identifier, and will not be used for advertising or to track you.
Optional in-app purchases. If we add purchases, they will be handled by the App Store or Google Play. We will never see your payment details or your store account; the store tells the game only which item was bought and its transaction number.
Neither is in the game today. When one of them ships, this policy will describe exactly what is collected, and the version history below will say what changed.
Version history
- : first version.
- : the publisher's legal name and postal address.
- : the game's new name, Keepwarden.
